Jonathan Doughty is a science teacher, husband, father, woodworker, swordsman, swimmer, singer, songwriter, and practitioner of aikido. When he’s not helping kids grow in their learning, he greatly enjoys spending time growing in one of those hobbies — or playing DnD with his friends.

Sixth – Eighth Grade Math Teacher

Bethany Cuetara

Bethany is a new part-time math teacher for 6-8th grade (all math blocks, no homeroom).  After moving to Maine in 2003 and working for a few years, she then took many years to raise 3 boys. When they were in 1st, 5th, and 9th grade in the fall of 2022, she began at Fiddlehead as a substitute for all the things- pre-K- 8, robotics specials, front desk, outdoor classroom, music, even Spanish!  She has a BA in Mathematics with a minor in music, and a BS in nursing with a minor in biology.  She also has a lot of training with neurodivergent kiddos and has a special passion for special education and meeting kids where they are at.  When she’s not at Fiddlehead or with her kids watching them play baseball, ski racing, Cub Scouts, or driving them all over the place, she… wait, when does that not happen?  She occasionally might be found reading a book, listening to music, playing piano, at the theater, visiting family in NH or her oldest son at UMaine Orono, or at the ocean; first, but lakes and mountains are close runners-up!

Crystal has been in education for 15 years and joined Fiddlehead in January of 2026. She has thoroughly enjoyed joining the middle school staff and building relationships with the students. She is a mom to 3 sons and moved to Maine in 2021. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, yoga, gardening, and hiking.

René Dumont

After retiring from a 40 year career in health care administration, René decided to pursue a second career in education. He is particularly passionate about language and literacy. After serving as an assistant librarian at Geiger Elementary in Lewiston, René joined the Fiddlehead community. He loves books, cooking and baking, gardening, and traveling. He also five grown children and two grandchildren.
