Sixth Grade Teacher
Chris Hazelton

Chris has worked in southern Maine schools since 2014, primarily in special education. Chris comes to Fiddlehead with a bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education with a concentration in math and social studies, which he uses to also serve as Fiddlehead’s middle school math teacher. When he isn’t at school, you can find Chris playing basketball, volleyball or disc golf.

Sixth Grade Teacher Assistant
René Dumont

After retiring from a 40 year career in health care administration, René decided to pursue a second career in education. He is particularly passionate about language and literacy. After serving as an assistant librarian at Geiger Elementary in Lewiston, René joined the Fiddlehead community. He loves books, cooking and baking, gardening, and traveling. He also loves spending time with his five grown children and two grandchildren.

Seventh Grade Teacher
Jonathan Doughty

Jonathan Doughty is a science teacher, husband, father, woodworker, swordsman, swimmer, singer, songwriter, and practitioner of aikido. When he’s not helping kids grow in their learning, he greatly enjoys spending time growing in one of those hobbies — or playing DnD with his friends.

Seventh Grade Teacher Assistant
Emma Sinford

Previously serving as the 4th and 5th grade special education teacher, Emma enjoys helping Fiddlehead’s middle school students as the 7th grade teacher’s assistant. Her passion for art and the outdoors is what drew her to Fiddlehead. The joy she experiences from helping students bring out their best selves is why she returns. When she’s not working, Emma enjoys curling up with a book in one hand, a mug of hot chocolate in the other, and her cat, Paula, on her lap.
